Initial Management (THYM-2)
a Patients with thymoma should be evaluated clinically for signs of myasthenia gravis and other paraneoplastic syndromes with appropriate workup and treatment.
b When assessing a mediastinal mass, detection of thymic malignancy versus thymic cyst or thymic hyperplasia can be better discriminated with chest MRI compared to
chest CT, potentially avoiding an unnecessary thymectomy.
c Refer to the NCCN Distress Thermometer and Problem List, which includes social determinants of health. See NCCN Guidelines for Distress Management (DIS-A).
d Well-defined anterior mediastinal mass in the thymic bed, tumor markers negative, absence of other adenopathy, and absence of continuity with the thyroid. Marom
